FAIRY HOUSES FOR SALE
A Secret Art Loft Fairy House is not so much made or handcrafted, it evolves.
As soon as I choose the jar the house begins to have it’s own personality. I have a large collection of jars all carefully washed and stored and when I am ready to begin making a new fairy village I take out maybe twenty or forty until I find just the ones I need. it is sometimes as if they shout out “choose me” or an interesting sweep to the neck of the jar captures my imagination.
This stage of the process can sometimes take a while but I have found that if I try to rush it nothing goes smoothly from there on.
From it’s beginning as a recycled jar a Secret Art Loft fairy house is never shiny and new but a unique piece of artistic creative spirit and a place of magic to those who choose to place it within their home. The shape and character of each jar leads me along the first steps of the path of creation and at this point I decide on the color of clay the jar needs. Once the jar is carefully covered in clay I choose from my collection of stamps, lace and other texture creating materials and give the walls a character to complement it’s shape. Then it’s the windows and a door, you will understand that these don’t need to open as your fairy is perfectly capable of using her fairy wand to gain entrance to her new home. At this point I go to my collection of charms, polymer clay canes, pearls and semi-precious stones and decide which ones to add as gifts to encourage fairies to choose your fairy house.
A very important part of every Secret Art Loft fairy house is the roof but by the time the main house is complete I already “know” exactly the style each house should have. Whether it’s leafy tiles with mossy tips, a spotted toadstool or hearts with a glint of gold dust this part takes some time to construct and get just right.
Once the house has been “fired” I hand paint it using acrylic paints and alcohol inks in colours to suit it’s personality, by this point I have usually given the house a name and I am aware of the fairy vibrations it is starting to resonate, eager for it’s fairy to move in.
Three coats of varnish and some beads hanging from it’s roof top and it’s ready to start to stimulate a sense of wonder deep within you and open your passageway into the fairy world
Although each property has been varnished to protect it but I would recommend that they are kept indoors out of direct sunlight.
(I have one that has been in the garden for several months and is fine, but the risk is yours!)
These delightful little fairy dwellings are ready and waiting for your
very own fairy to move in!
How will you know if she is there? Well, if you wake to the scent of flowers on the air or see the sparkle of starlight where no stars dwell, you can be sure she has been weaving an enchantment of protection and luck as she goes.
I have been told that fairies love their homes to have sparkly bits and trinkets and I have taken that into consideration when designing each of them.
The lid still screws off most of the properties so that you can put a tooth inside ready for collection or simply store your favourite keepsakes in them.

A FAIRY’S house stands in a wood,
Midst fairy trees and flowers,
Where daisies sing like little birds
Between the sun and showers,
And grasses whisper tiny things
About this world of ours.
Such flowers are there beside the way,
Lilies and hollyhocks:
Blow off their stalks to tell the time
Tall dandelion clocks;
While harebells ring an hourly chime
Like a wound music‐box.
Some day shall we two try to find
This strange enchanted place?
Go hand in hand through flower‐lit woods
Where living trees embrace--
And suddenly, as in a dream,
Behold a fairy’s face!
